Our powerful tagging system allows sounds to be catalogued by category, timbre, character, mood, and instrument. You can also filter samples by tempo range and musical key. Additionally, when you click on any sample you will see recommendations on similar sounds.

  All users get a free amount of Download credits each week! There are several ways you can earn more if you run out.

• Who is behind Sample Focus?

  Sample Focus was created by @trostli. Together with a tiny but mighty team, we're building the web's most unique and inspiring sound library. Unlike other sites out there, Sample Focus is entirely bootstrapped and has never raised a drop of venture capital. You can be confident Sample Focus will be here for decades to come!

• What are download credits?

  In order to grow our community we incentivize uploading by using a system of download credits. Every Monday your account will be topped up to 3 download credits. You can earn more by uploading. Currently you earn 4 download credits for every upload that is approved. These numbers may change as we learn what works best to continually grow Sample Focus.

  Also, when you refer a new user to Sample Focus using your invite link, you'll both earn 10 credits!

• How do I download sounds?

  Just click the yellow download icon on any sample card. Or on any sample detail page click the purple Download button. Be aware that downloading is not supported for mobile devices at the moment.

• What rights do I have for samples I download from this service?

  You may remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially. All sounds on Sample Focus are licensed under our Standard License.

  This means that all sounds are royalty free and no attribution is required!

• Can I upload and monetize my work on Youtube, Spotify or other services?

  Absolutely! You don't need to clear samples with us. However, be mindful that if another person has used the exact same sample without any modifications or blending, and you've done the same, platforms with a copyright ID system, like YouTube, might flag your content for copyright violations. We strongly recommend that you personalize and modify the samples to make them uniquely yours!

• How does uploading work?

  You can upload 1 or several samples at a time here. You may upload collections of samples or unrelated ones too. Once you assign a category and tag the samples, they will be submitted and undergo an approval process to ensure the samples have been correctly tagged. Be as descriptive as possible.

  By uploading you certify you are the copyright holder and allow the sound to be distributed via our Standard License license. You will retain all rights of the uploaded material.

• Why should I upload?

  1. To earn additional download credits.
  2. Eventually there will be some sort of profit splitting scheme put into place. Early uploaders will get a head start and a possible boon in rewards.
  3. Help our budding community grow!

• What should I upload?

  Any sound that you think would help contribute to our mission! At the moment we are not accepting complete tracks or compositions but we may in the future.

  At the moment we only accept .wav files.

• Is there a maximum file size I can upload?

  Right now we have an upload limit of 10 Mb for audio samples.

• I uploaded some samples. Why does it say my samples are unpublished?

  We manually verify the quality of the samples, as well as the accuracy of the tags used. We try to get this done as quickly as possible, but sometimes it can take us up to a week. The better the naming and tagging, the quicker they will be approved. If you upload many similar sounds please create a Collection.

• I subscribed to a paid plan. How do I cancel my subscription?

  If you are a paid subscriber hover over your avatar on the top right and select "Subscription". On that page you should see what plan you are on and a link to manage your subscription. You can cancel or change your plan there.

• Do download credits rollover?

  Yes! Any credits you don't use this month will be waiting for you next month.

• What happens to my download credits if I decide to cancel my subscription?

  At the end of your last billing cycle, the subscription credits you earned as part of your subscription will be put on hold. They can be re-activated at any time by re-subscribing. Any credits earned via uploading or referals are not affected.

• If I cancel my account, do I lose access to the sounds I've already downloaded?

  No, you can still re-download any sounds you've previously downloaded in your account.

• I'm being charged for a subscription, however my account says I'm on a free plan. How can this be?

  Usually when this happens it’s because a user has multiple accounts. Please check any any other emails you may have used to create an account. You may also have logged in with Google or Facebook.

• Do you accept alternative forms of payment such as cryptocurrency or Paypal?

  Yes! However, we only accept them for the purchase of a Yearly plan. If interested, please email us at hello@samplefocus.com.

• What can I do if someone is infringing on my copyright?

  If you are the rights holder for an audio sample that you have not authorized to be uploaded, you may file a report consistent with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act at DMCA@samplefocus.com. We will then remove the offending material.
